Drivers of World Change
Once again, as
Prof has emphasized in class, it is more important to see things in the bigger
picture and how they are interrelated rather than focus on the specific
details.
With regards to
drivers of world change, there are 3 main things you need to reflect upon and
examine
1) What is the driver of world change? How
did it arise?
2) Where is it manifested in? What are some
of the economic/political/social/ethical/legal implications of this driver?
3)
Evaluation
and what the future holds for the world
If you would
like to go one step further, you may want to examine how the various drivers of
world change are interconnected with one another.
There are many different global drivers of change. Here, I would like
to draw your attention to the following drivers worth considering, given their
relevance in our world today
1) Climate change
2) Demographics: increasing global
population, ageing population
3) Depleting sources of non-renewable
energy
4) Shift in global power balance
5) Information and Communications
Technology
Change Management and Change Leadership
There are 2 key
things that you should know about change management and leadership.
1) Differences between a manager and a
leader
2) How does change happen? (Do refer to the reading on how to lead
change: 3 simple steps)
Change
management and change leadership is, in fact, an overarching theme which is
relevant to all of the other topics which have been covered in previous
sessions. For instance, change leadership is vital in triggering world change.
It can also play a significant role in shaping the global geo-political arena which
relates to global dominance. As such, do keep in mind this theme when we cover
new topics in the upcoming sessions.
